Meet Sonia King

While other HR and employment law trainers talk the talk, I’ve walked the walk.

I’m an  experienced leader and manager of employees. And HR consultant with over two decades of experience. In all things leading and managing people. While also navigating the complexity of Australian employment law.

I’ve worked hard to make my customers follow employment law. Drive profits through an engaged and motivated team. Including investigating and facilitating workplace disputes. And, of course, mitigating Fair Work matters. Defending my customers and attending legal briefings with lawyers.

And let me tell you, that ain’t easy!

I don’t talk about lofty principles or waffle on about strategy.

I roll up my sleeves and get stuck in, offering you no-nonsense employment law and HR advice. And practical tactics that mitigate risks. And drive greater engagement. As well as profits for my customers. While minimising risks of losing profits to penalties.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

How is your Course different to other HR Courses?

I’ve proven my success in HR.  And Navigating Australian Employment Law. And I’ve done it the hard way.

Like you, I’ve had to learn how to navigate. My way around the complexity of the Australian Employment Law landscape.

There are no courses on the topic. Because many of the courses in HR are not related to employment law. But other areas of HR best practice.

The other option is to go to government sites. And they’re full of gobbledygook. And that’s what I had to do. Translate the jargon and nonsense by reading. And researching the legislation. To understand what it all means.

And now I want to tell you how I did it. Here are some other reasons why my course is different:

  1. I have been providing this HR advice to my customers for over 10 years.

  2. I have 5 star Google testimonials.

  3. My customers have engaged teams of employees.

  4. And they know how to mange their teams to get the best performance. Without worrying about breaking employment laws.

  5. I’m an experienced trainer. Who runs workshops for big-name brands and small businesses.

  6. I’m an in-demand HR speaker at events, respected by my peers.

  7. I go the extra mile and provide resources and tools for you to enjoy.

  8. I offer not only the appetiser style front-end HR advice. But also the meat and potatoes of the technical side.

  9. I’m crazy enthusiastic about Navigating the complexity of Australian employment law. And that enthusiasm will rub off on YOU.

By the end of my course, you’ll love HR as much as I do.

The course is not some short, five or six hour thing. It’s a comprehensive resource that you can refer to for many years to come.

And unlike many other online courses, I won’t leave you to ‘go it alone’.

You’ll get weekly support via the Q&A calls, as well as 12 weeks access to the Facebook study group. So you can ask all your questions and get tailored advice.

What is The Forewarned is Forearmed Course?

The Forewarned is Forearmed Course is a six-module online coaching course. Plus a bonus module which you can choose to do. Or not.

This course demystifies Australian Employment Law. And gives you the skills to navigate your way around its complexity.

The Course is perfect for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and managers. Any businesses with employees to manage. And anyone else who wants to get to grips with Australian employment law.

Is there homework?

On average you’ll get two worksheets a week to complete. But don’t worry, I won’t be marking them. They’re a practical, fun and easy way to help you understand each module. Of course, the more you put into the course, the more you’ll get out of it. But the level of effort involved is up to you

Can I do the course at my own pace?

Yes. The course structure is across 12 weeks. and you’ll receive email prompts that guide you through this.

But, these are prompts and there’s no pressure to stick to this format. If you want to take it at your own pace, that’s fine too. I give you one year’s access to all the materials because I know that life sometimes gets in the way!

When was the course last updated?

I update the course regularly. You will learn in the course. Australian employment law is regularly updated. It’s a fluid system. It’s not always the same.

And don’t forget, you get one year’s access to all updated materials.

When is the course start date for the May 2025 launch?

The first module will open on 9th of June 2025. But there’s plenty to be getting on with before then.

How does the Course run?

The Forewarned is Forearmed Course runs for twelve weeks. With a content module published each week. You access the content by logging into the password-protected member area. Each module contains:

  • Some training videos

    • Worksheets, checklists, roadmaps and downloadable DIY templates

    • Optional material you can complete, if you have the time

You also get access to:

  • Access to 100s of useful links and tools

  • Access to the private Facebook Study Group

  • 10 one-hour group Q&A calls

  • 2 bonus calls

The optional Facebook Study group. And weekly Q&A calls. Are not 100% necessary. For the course, but do provide extra support and an opportunity to ask questions.

What if I don’t like the course?

If you’ve worked through the first module of the course. And haven’t gained any value from it (or don’t think the course is for you), I’ll refund your payment.

You must request a refund within 14 days of the course starting.

What types of people sign up for the Forewarned is Forearmed Course?

Business owners. Directors. Managers. And new to Australia busines owners. Also anyone who either manages others at work. Or is thinking about becoming a business owner. Or a manager.

Can you guarantee I’ll avoid any Fair Work issue by doing your Course?

Nope, I’m afraid not. This course isn’t about magical fixes or false promises. It’s about helping you truly understand how employment law works in Australia. So, you can avoid nasty penalties. But you will learn that there can be no guarantees. Because if you do make a mistake, you can still end up in hot water. At least you will know what you did wrong. And what you can do about it.

You will also know it’s not worth going to court.

What types of industries do people come from who sign up for the Forewarned is Forearmed Course?

All kinds of industries. Because Australian employment law is across all industries. It’s applicable to any industry.

How many hours per week should I set aside for the Course?

I know you don’t have a lot of time to spare for HR. It’s why I’ve broken the course into bite-sized chunks. You should allow 2-3 hours a week to digest the course materials, which includes:

  • Watching the training videos

  • Reading and completing your HR worksheets

  • Enjoying the bonus materials, such as expert interviews

  • Taking part in the group Q&A calls

  • Asking questions in the Facebook Study Group (as well as networking with others)

This is all the learning side of the course.

The implementation side. Putting what you’ve learned into practice. Will of course depend on how much work you needs to do. But the whole point of this course is for you to learn at your own pace, and at a time that suits you.

And with 12 months access to the materials, you  can revisit them until you feel confident

Can I email / call / message you with my questions during the course?

No. Submit all questions relating to the course to the question page within the site. Answers will be in the group Q &A calls. I also do not commit to answering questions via the Facebook group.

Why? Employment Law questions usually don’t have yes/no answers. The group calls give me a chance to dig deeper. Ask more questions and do on-screen demos. I’m afraid I cannot enter into private email correspondence. Or take phone calls about your individual site issues.

Wondering if now’s the right time to take a step toward Success in Navigating Australian Employment Law?

If not now, when? The sooner you get stuck in, the sooner you won’t feel so vulnerable.
