I’m excited to be presenting at the 16th National Public Sector Fraud and Corruption Congress in Sydney on 15 May 2026.
Workshop: Building Effective Psychosocial Safety for Both Investigators and Witnesses in Fraud and Corruption Investigations
Fraud and corruption investigations don’t just uncover misconduct – they can create significant psychosocial hazards for everyone involved.
In this interactive workshop, I’ll be sharing insights from real case experience on protecting the mental health and safety of investigators and witnesses during fraud and corruption investigations.
What we’ll cover:
- Psychosocial hazards faced by investigators conducting fraud/corruption investigations (vicarious trauma, retaliation risk, isolation)
- Protection strategies for witnesses and victims
- Organisational frameworks to manage psychosocial safety
- Real case study: When an HR investigation uncovered systemic corruption
- Professional boundaries: Knowing when to step back
This session includes interactive case studies and practical tools attendees can apply immediately to their own investigation work.
Why this matters:
Following the $188,000 fine issued to Defence in January 2025 for failure to manage psychosocial hazards, organisations are increasingly recognising their obligations under WHS legislation to protect not just employees, but also external investigators and witnesses involved in sensitive investigations.
This workshop provides practical, evidence-based strategies for meeting these obligations while conducting effective fraud and corruption investigations.
